Commander’s Message: SWTOR Guild Summit

To all Ranks Eridani Light Horse

As you may not have been aware the Unit has been invited by BioWare to send a delegate to their SWTOR guild conference at their Austin, Texas headquarters. Various individual Eridanis and The Light Horse in general have worked exceptionally hard to advance the game and the Unit’s standing within it.

Previous recognition has included appointment(s) to the private SWTOR test group and the Unit’s involvement on the test server for which we received a Game Director’s Commendation.

I am addressing you all directly today to explain why this is such a landmark event for the Light Horse and that we are fundraising in order to ensure we are able to send our delegate such that we can take advantage of this opportunity.

CCP has had a similar program for Eve Online since 2008: the Council of Stellar Management is considered equal in game development direction as the developers themselves. The player CSM has been an extremely successful program, and although some suggestions are rejected for technical reasons, many are accepted as useful improvements to the game for inclusion in future patches and expansions. It is our hope that BioWare’s Guild Summit with come to have equal positive impact upon SWTOR development.

It is thus vital that the Light Horse continue our long tradition of support to the games in which we are active – going all the way back to the original MPBT EGA in 1988 with our secondment to the game’s training academies. There are also future follow on effects that will continue to benefit the Unit as well. Although we were never able to secure the necessary votes for inclusion in Eve’s CSM, the developer recognition afforded us by BioWare opens opportunities with both them and in the other games we participate in.

BioWare recognizes our ability to contribute to SWTOR’s development and we would be remiss to pass on this opportunity. The Unit is hoping to raise $1000 to help offset travel and incidentals for our delegate to attend. We wanted to express our sincere thanks to Eridani Light Horse for your help with Game Update 1.1. Thanks to you, we were able to find and fix a significant number of bugs in kaon and Karagga's Palace before it hit the live servers, and we appreciate your guild taking the time out of their normal schedules to focus on our Public Test Server instead.

We plan to continue testing major new pieces of content regularly, and we'd love to have you back for future tests. Thanks again, and May the Force Be With You!

[SWTOR] Mandatory pre-launch meeting

Greetings all,

I trust everyone's holiday was good. With the close of the US Beta and the SWTOR launch merely 10 days away, we will be having our MANDATORY pre-launch meeting on Friday, December 9th, 2011 on Ventrilo. The time will be 8 PM eastern.

It is very important that you attend. Any player who does not RSVP will be subject to removal from the ELH:SWTOR chapter at our discretion. If you cannot make it that is fine - but you had better be in surgery that day or closing a multi-million dollar deal. One thing the officers have discussed is that several people have taken a very casual attitude towards the guild, and the game in general. The time for this indifference is now over.

We will be discussing guild strategy, crafting guidelines and overall Unit policy which will be strictly enforced from day one. If you do not attend this meeting - you will not be in the loop and the guild management is NOT responsible if you show up and don't know what's going on.

Finally, we will be discussing the guild charter articles with Maldronnar, Garybusey, RAM, and myself have been putting together which will require everyone's acknowledgement.

Having said all that - we are excited about the upcoming launch and invite you all to participate in what appears to be one of the best MMO launches in recent history.
